About Liquid Rubber Application

  • We come across many caravan owners struggling with their leaking caravan roofs trying to find a solution to fix it cost-effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • Usually they have already tried a number of options which have unfortunately failed.
  • Finding the right product for the purpose of waterproofing can sometimes be a bit tricky as a DIY applicator.
  • When choosing the best waterproofing product there are factors you need to take into count such as: is the product I’m using safe to apply, is it reliable, will it work, how long will it last, where do I get it from etc.

Alternative to replacing your

leaking caravan roof?

  • If your caravan roof only has minor leaks and you have been able to identify where they are it might be worth rethinking whether you need to replace the whole roof or resealing the roof would be an option.
  • Replacing the entire roof is never a small job. That is why it is worth determining the option of a new waterproofing membrane to stop the leaks.
  •  If you are looking for a reliable way to waterproof your mobile home roof and perhaps would even like the option of having a heat reflective coating to reduce the interior temperature, look no further!
  • Using Liquid Rubber waterproofing membrane in conjunction with Thermo Top Coat you will be able to achieve a waterproofing membrane that is not only easy to apply but also looks good.
  • In addition to that you will have the thermal properties of the Thermo Top Coat making the temperature inside much more pleasant especially during the hot summer months (up to 8 degrees cooler).

This is why Liquid Rubber is the best sealant for caravans

  • Liquid Rubber is black in colour and has a yogurt-like consistency to it. It is safe and easy to apply and cures into a tough yet flexible, thin waterproofing membrane.
  • Especially when using Liquid Rubber with Thermo you will achieve an ideal coating for your mobile home.
  •  If you need to detail any joins, corners, junctions screw holes etc. use of Geo-textile bandage is recommended. This will allow extra re-enforcement to those areas that need that little extra care.

Geo-Textile Bandage

  • Before starting your DIY Waterproofing project there are a couple of important things to remember.
  • It is extremely important to clean and prepare the surface of your caravan roof as best as you can. It is essential to remove all dust, grime, flaking, mould etc.
  • We know from years of experience that when the correct steps are followed meticulously to waterproof when using Liquid Rubber & Thermo Top Coat, it will work. Our motto is: “Do it once, do it right!”

How to use waterproof paint to seal your caravan roof

Apply waterproofing paint with a brush.

Convenient DIY caravan roof waterproofing bundle.

  • Once you have cleaned and prepared the surface and done all the detailing with the textile bandage and Liquid Rubber it’s time to do your first overall coat of Liquid Rubber.

Apply nice even coverage, fairly thin coats with Liquid Rubber. You can use brush or roller.

Then ideally let dry at least about 24 hours.
  • If you have decided to only use Liquid Rubber, you would then do a second coat of Liquid Rubber and once again leave it to dry for at least 48 hours.

NOTE: It is important to note that humidity can play a huge role in terms of allowing the product to bond to surface.
